Drive-In Racking Systems/Drive-Through Racking Systems allow for High-Density Storage
Drive-In Racking allows a lift truck to enter the rack from one side to pick up or pull out pallets, because pallets slide on a continous rail. Drive-through racking allows a lift truck to enter from either side of the system. This allows your lift truck operators to drive into the rack system to access pallets that are deeper than one pallet position. Drive-in Racking Systems and drive-through racking systems need more integrity and strength than normal selective racking, since the racking system will see more abuse from lift truck operation. This type of racking is an ideal option for cold storage applications.
Last in - First Out
Since drive-in racking allows the ability to store large amounts of loads, it is recommended that the loads be of similar product. Selectivity is sacrificed, but storage density is outstanding. Drive-In Racking can store up to 75% more pallets in the same space than selective racking -- depending on your application. It requires fewer aisles and is better cubic storage. Drive-through racking follows the same principle of last in - first out, however, you have the flexibility to access the product from both sides.
Drive-In and Drive-Through racking may be the choice for you
In cold storage applications, drive-in racking can store store as many pallets as possible in as little space as possible.
If your company stores similar products.
If your company can use a last in, first out system
If you have seasonal inventory that needs temporary storage.
NOTE: Drive-in racking is application specific and may take time to design and adequately research to provide what is best for the application.
